Program Feature The university offers one-year Chinese language study for free to those who apply for degree program in SMU. Students should pay the first year tuition, and for the last year study will be free of charge.

Enrollment: Shanghai Maritime University reserves the right to admit foreign students by written test or interview.

The enrollment result will be issued at the beginning of July. The offer package will be delivered after that.

3. Enough English language competency for academic learning (TOEFL ibt 90 or above, IELTS 6.0 or above)

1. Photocopy of valid passport
    With photo, passport number &expiration date and name included.

2. Passport-sized photo
    A passport-sized photo taken recently of the applicant.

3. Master's degree diploma
   Graduation certificate should be in Chinese or English.
   If not, it should be translated into Chinese or English and be notarized.

4. Transcript of postgraduate school

    TOEFL ibt 90 or above, IELTS 6.0 or above

7. Health certificate
    Required during application.Photocopy of notarized foreigner physical examination record (for durations of study over 6 months) 

8. Statement of purpose
    Around 1500 words for PhD candidates, including the study and work experience, academic research result, planned research proposal, and individual development objective after graduation.
