The discipline has five research directions, including laser processing theory and equipment, intelligent manufacturing and robot technology, mechatronics and control technology, fault diagnosis and reliability design, and new energy and intelligent vehicles, of which laser processing theory and equipment are the characteristic research directions. The discipline focuses on the construction of Wenzhou National Independent Innovation Demonstration Zone and China (Wenzhou) Laser and Optoelectronic Industry Cluster, extensively carries out international scientific and technological cooperation with well-known universities and research institutions in the United States, Russia, South Korea, Singapore and other countries, has 10 national provincial and ministerial platforms such as the National International Science and Technology Cooperation Base, Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory, Zhejiang Collaborative Innovation Center, Zhejiang Engineering Laboratory, and presides over 46 national scientific research projects, including 4 key projects (National Natural Science Foundation of China Joint Fund Key Project, Intergovernmental Key Special Project for International Science and Technology Cooperation and National 863 High-tech Development Plan), won 15 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards (ranked 1), including 3 provincial and ministerial first prizes and 4 second prizes.
