The major of energy and power engineering originated from the power plant major set up by Shanghai Shipbuilding Industry School in 1953, is one of the earliest majors in our school, has a first-level discipline master's program, is a national first-class undergraduate professional construction point, Jiangsu Province first-class undergraduate professional construction point, is a pilot major for the training of outstanding engineers in Jiangsu Province, was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2019 Sino-foreign cooperative education project, in 2020 approved by the China Scholarship Fund as a pilot training project. It has built scientific research and teaching practice platforms such as Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of International Cooperation on Green Power and Energy Conservation and Emission Reduction, Zhenjiang Key Laboratory of Ship Power Equipment Performance, and CSSC Power's Industry-Education Integration Training Base.
There are nearly 25 full-time teachers, 2 professors and 9 associate professors in the major of energy and power engineering, and there are young and middle-aged science and technology leaders of Jiangsu "333" Project, leaders of Jiangsu "Blue Project" science and technology innovation team, 1 high-level talent of Jiangsu Province's "Six Talent Peaks", and 2 doctors of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship in Jiangsu Province. In the past three years, he has been approved 5 scientific research projects at the provincial and ministerial level, published more than 50 SCI/EI papers, authorized 36 invention patents, published 2 monographs and 2 textbooks.
The energy and power engineering major pays attention to the cultivation of students' professional skills and scientific spirit, and a group of outstanding alumni such as He Jianghua (National "May Day" model worker and LNG ship chief builder) have emerged. In the past five years, the discipline competition has won nearly 100 provincial and ministerial awards and above, the employment rate has been in the forefront of the university for many consecutive years, about 20% of the graduates serve the national defense cause, 50% enter the internationally renowned ship leading enterprises, and the employer has a good evaluation.
The major of energy and power engineering will face the development needs of new ship power technologies in the ship and marine energy equipment manufacturing industry and naval defense, actively adapt to the challenges and requirements of industry development for talent training, adhere to the concept of interdisciplinary development, strengthen students' innovation and entrepreneurship capabilities, optimize the top-level design of application-oriented talent training, strengthen professional certification, innovation and entrepreneurship and the internationalization of education, and strive to build a training base for designing and manufacturing talents in the field of ship energy power in China.
1. A foreign passport holder, healthy, obedient to Chinese law and regulations of JUST.
2. Bachelor program applicants should hold a high school diploma and normally should be less than 30 years old; Master program applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree and normally should be less than 35 years old; doctorate program applicants should hold a master degree and normally should be less than 45 years old.
3. The requirement of language proficiency for applicants of English delivered programs is as follows: Bachelor- IBT 75 or IELTS 5.5, Master or above-IBT 80 or IELTS 6, but not required for native English speaker. Applicants of Chinese delivered programs must have recent HSK Level 4 certificate (within 2 Years).

For graduate applicants, the following academic materials are required: an original or notarized copy (in English or Chinese) of undergraduate transcript and Bachelor Degree Certificate, two recommendation letters (in Chinese or English) from different referees at least titled as associate professor (or other equivalent titles).
6. For doctorate program applicants, the necessary academic materials are: an original or notarized copy (in English or Chinese) of graduate transcript and Master Degree Certificate, two recommendation letters from two different professors, Published papers and research proposal for doctorate study in China.
7. Self-financed international students should name a trustee in China and provide a financial guarantee (International Students, if not supported by Jiangsu Provincial Government Scholarship, are recognized as self-financed full time graduate students).
