On the basis of the original structural engineering, the first-level discipline of civil engineering of Jiangsu University of Science and Technology has gradually formed a first-level civil engineering discipline that combines the characteristics of the school's ship and ocean engineering, and has formed the following five distinctive research directions:

(1) marine concrete structures and their durability;

(2) Structural seismic resistance and vibration damping;

(3) Steel structure collision damage and prestressed steel structure;

(4) Geotechnical engineering disaster prevention and safety;

(5) HVAC and building energy saving.

He has completed a number of horizontal scientific research projects such as "Bridge Monitoring Design and Development Research of Wuxi West Bridge Section of Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway", which closely combines the characteristics of the shipbuilding industry and major engineering and technical problems in local infrastructure construction of our university, and has successively carried out "Performance deterioration mechanism and engineering countermeasures of marine structures under the coupling of wave load and chloride ion erosion", "Research on the performance degradation mechanism and engineering countermeasures of asphalt pavement under the coupling of low-speed load and environmental factors";

Relying on the School of Civil Engineering and Architecture and Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Advanced Design and Manufacturing Technology of Shipbuilding, research on seismic response of complex sites, seismic isolation, seismic isolation and impact resistance of engineering structures, seismic measures and monitoring measures of engineering structures, and corrosion resistance of concrete structures have been carried out. According to the needs of dock slipway, port terminal construction and local infrastructure construction, actively carry out research in the directions of "early warning and control of geotechnical geological disasters", "seismic liquefaction safety of near-coastal geostructures", "bearing capacity characteristics of existing buildings" and "theory and technology of geotechnical support and reinforcement". The basic and applied research of marine high-temperature air conditioning system and vibration mode analysis of ship refrigeration unit has been carried out, and the research in the field of ship refrigeration and air conditioning is at the leading level in China. The basic theory and application research of renewable energy utilization, healthy and efficient new air conditioning system, heat and humidity independent treatment air conditioning system, etc. have been carried out, and the first comprehensive experimental bench of solution dehumidification and radiant cooling (heating) air conditioning system in China has been built, and the research results have been applied in Jiangsu Province green building and renewable energy demonstration projects.

1. A foreign passport holder, healthy, obedient to Chinese law and regulations of JUST.

2. Bachelor program applicants should hold a high school diploma and normally should be less than 30 years old; Master program applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree and normally should be less than 35 years old; doctorate program applicants should hold a master degree and normally should be less than 45 years old.

3. The requirement of language proficiency for applicants of English delivered programs is as follows: Bachelor- IBT 75 or IELTS 5.5, Master or above-IBT 80 or IELTS 6, but not required for native English speaker. Applicants of Chinese delivered programs must have recent HSK Level 4 certificate (within 2 Years).

For graduate applicants, the following academic materials are required: an original or notarized copy (in English or Chinese) of undergraduate transcript and Bachelor Degree Certificate, two recommendation letters (in Chinese or English) from different referees at least titled as associate professor (or other equivalent titles).

6. For doctorate program applicants, the necessary academic materials are: an original or notarized copy (in English or Chinese) of graduate transcript and Master Degree Certificate, two recommendation letters from two different professors, Published papers and research proposal for doctorate study in China.
