Founded in 1999, the Department of International Economics and Trade is one of the earliest non-linguistic composite majors enrolled in our university. At present, a complete training system has been formed, including undergraduate, academic, professional and doctoral students. In 2020, the International Economics and Trade major was approved as a national first-class undergraduate major construction point.
The International Economics and Trade major combines talent training with the needs of national strategic development, based on a high degree of recognition of Chinese culture, experience and business practice, and is committed to cultivating composite and high-level international economic and trade talents with international vision, Chinese feelings and global competence, who can actively adapt to industry changes and have innovative thinking, and has become an important base for the country to cultivate international economic and trade talents.
This major has always been committed to effectively combining international economics and trade with English proficiency training, and constantly deepening the comprehensive reform of the major. The newly revised training plan takes "classification excellence" as the guiding ideology, further innovates the talent training model, and improves the innovative and practical talent classification training mode. Students in this major not only have a solid theoretical knowledge foundation of international economics and trade, but also have a strong academic foundation and knowledge application and practical operation ability through the introduction of advanced courses, research courses and experimental practical courses. At the same time, relying on the language training and international advantages of Beiwai characteristics, students have a broad international vision and strong English communication skills, and nearly half of the students have the opportunity to go abroad during their studies.
