Professional Overview: The Computer Science and Technology major focuses on the structure and operation of computer software and hardware, the development and programming of computer systems, as well as the theoretical and practical methods of various information processing engineering. The aim is to cultivate students' mastery of the basic knowledge of mathematics and natural sciences, as well as the fundamental theories, knowledge, skills and methods related to computing systems, and to equip them with scientific thinking abilities such as computational thinking, as well as the ability to design computing solutions and implement systems based on computing principles, so as to provide high-quality specialized technical talents for related fields such as computing system research, development, deployment and application.

Curriculum system

General education courses: These include courses in the humanities and social sciences (such as career planning, ideological and moral cultivation, and legal basis, etc.), mathematics (such as calculus, probability theory, and mathematical statistics, etc.), and natural sciences (such as college physics), accounting for approximately 15% of the total courses.

Disciplinary basic courses: including knowledge points such as programming, data structures, computer organization, operating systems, computer networks, and information management, they are an important foundation for professional learning.

Professional courses: There are fields such as digital circuits, computer system architecture, algorithms, programming languages, software engineering, parallel and distributed computing, intelligent technology, computer graphics and human-computer interaction, accounting for about 30% of the total courses.

Practical teaching: It accounts for approximately 20% of the total courses, including experimental courses, course design, internships, and graduation projects, etc. It requires that the total experimental equivalent over four years be no less than 20,000 lines of code to cultivate students' practical abilities and the capacity to solve real-world problems.  

All Chinese and other foreign students (non-Chinese citizens) who have a high school diploma or equivalent educational attainment, are at least 18 years old but no more than 25 years old, have good conduct, no criminal record, and are in good physical and mental health are eligible to apply for Jinan University.

2. [Passport] The student's own passport (if currently in China, the most recent valid Chinese visa page and entry and exit record stamp must also be provided).

3. [Graduation Certificate] and [Transcript] (Note ①, ②)

Graduation certificates or academic qualifications of high school or above, transcripts of each academic year issued by the graduating high school, and transcripts of internationally recognized standardized tests (if available, provide such as SAT/ACT/A-Level/AP/IB, etc.).

4. [Language Proficiency Proof] HSK or IELTS, TOEFL score certificates, etc. (The scores are valid within two years).

5. [Personal Statement] Self-introduction, past study experience and study plan in China.

6. [Recommendation Letter] One letter, which can be recommended by our overseas admissions office, local overseas Chinese communities, well-known figures in the overseas Chinese community, or the high school where the student graduated.

7. [Physical Examination Report] If you are applying for a medical-related program at our school, you also need to provide a physical examination report within the last six months. The template for the physical examination report is attached as the "Physical Examination Form".

8. The date of issuance of the "Certificate of No Criminal Record" should be within six months before the registration date.

9. [Other Materials] According to the "Notice of the Ministry of Education on Regulating the Relevant Work of Accepting International Students in Our Higher Education Institutions" (Jiaowai Han [2020] No. 12),

② Proof of the applicant's acquisition of foreign nationality; ③ The applicant's entry and exit records for the past four years (up to April 30, 2025).

(2) For applicants who acquired foreign nationality at birth abroad, if one or both of their parents are Chinese citizens, they need to provide ① proof that the applicant acquired foreign nationality at birth; ② Proof of permanent residence of the applicant's parents (Chinese citizens) in a foreign country before birth; ③ The applicant's entry and exit records for the past four years (up to April 30, 2025).
