I. Professional Overview
The major of International Journalism and Communication is a discipline that studies the laws of news communication, cross-cultural information dissemination and international public opinion dynamics from a global perspective. It integrates knowledge from multiple disciplines such as journalism, communication studies, international relations, and foreign languages, aiming to cultivate compound talents with international communication capabilities, cross-cultural communication skills, and the ability to analyze global issues. Students are required to master core skills such as news gathering, writing, editing and commentary, international communication theory, foreign language application (such as English and minor languages), and new media technology, and be capable of engaging in international news reporting, cross-border cultural dissemination, international public opinion analysis and other work in the context of globalization.

1. Core basic courses
Fundamentals of Journalism: Journalism Theory, History of Journalism (History of Chinese and Foreign journalism), News Reporting and Writing, News Editing, News Photography and Videography.
Communication Theory: Introduction to Communication, International Communication, Cross-cultural Communication, Research on Media Effects.
International Relations and Global Issues: Introduction to International Relations, International Political Economy, Global Governance, Regional Studies (such as Asia-Pacific, Europe and America, etc.).
2. Professional characteristic courses
International News Practice: International News Reporting, in-depth international Reporting, International News Compilation (Chinese-English translation), Case Analysis of International media.
Cross-cultural communication practice: Cross-cultural communication skills, International public opinion analysis, international public relations, international communication ethics and regulations.
New Media and International Communication: Digital Media Technology, Data Journalism, International Social Media Operation, New Media Strategies in Global Communication.
3. Foreign Languages and interdisciplinary courses
Foreign language enhancement: Professional English (News English, Academic English), second foreign language (such as French, Spanish, Arabic, etc.).
Interdisciplinary knowledge: Fundamentals of Economics, Fundamentals of Law, Sociology, Statistics (for data journalism analysis).
4. Practical teaching link
News Training: Campus media practice, simulated international press conferences, news gathering and editing internships (such as participating in internships at international media institutions in China, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs News Center, etc.).
International exchange programs: Overseas institution exchange, international media workshops, participation in international academic conferences (such as Model United Nations, Global Communication Forum).

All Chinese and other foreign students (non-Chinese citizens) who have a high school diploma or equivalent educational attainment, are at least 18 years old but no more than 25 years old, have good conduct, no criminal record, and are in good physical and mental health are eligible to apply for Jinan University.

2. [Passport] The student's own passport (if currently in China, the most recent valid Chinese visa page and entry and exit record stamp must also be provided).
3. [Graduation Certificate] and [Transcript] (Note ①, ②)
Graduation certificates or academic qualifications of high school or above, transcripts of each academic year issued by the graduating high school, and transcripts of internationally recognized standardized tests (if available, provide such as SAT/ACT/A-Level/AP/IB, etc.).
4. [Language Proficiency Proof] HSK or IELTS, TOEFL score certificates, etc. (The scores are valid within two years).
5. [Personal Statement] Self-introduction, past study experience and study plan in China.
6. [Recommendation Letter] One letter, which can be recommended by our overseas admissions office, local overseas Chinese communities, well-known figures in the overseas Chinese community, or the high school where the student graduated.
7. [Physical Examination Report] If you are applying for a medical-related program at our school, you also need to provide a physical examination report within the last six months. The template for the physical examination report is attached as the "Physical Examination Form".
8. The date of issuance of the "Certificate of No Criminal Record" should be within six months before the registration date.
9. [Other Materials] According to the "Notice of the Ministry of Education on Regulating the Relevant Work of Accepting International Students in Our Higher Education Institutions" (Jiaowai Han [2020] No. 12),
② Proof of the applicant's acquisition of foreign nationality; ③ The applicant's entry and exit records for the past four years (up to April 30, 2025).
(2) For applicants who acquired foreign nationality at birth abroad, if one or both of their parents are Chinese citizens, they need to provide ① proof that the applicant acquired foreign nationality at birth; ② Proof of permanent residence of the applicant's parents (Chinese citizens) in a foreign country before birth; ③ The applicant's entry and exit records for the past four years (up to April 30, 2025).
