I. Professional Positioning and Disciplinary Connotation

Environmental science and engineering is an interdisciplinary subject that integrates natural science, engineering technology and social science, with the core goal of "solving environmental pollution problems and achieving harmonious development between humans and nature". Its research scope covers the entire chain from environmental pollution mechanisms (such as the formation mechanism of atmospheric PM2.5 and the principle of water eutrophication) to pollution control technologies (such as wastewater treatment processes and the resource utilization of solid waste), and then to environmental policy formulation (such as carbon emission trading systems and environmental protection regulations), possessing both theoretical depth and practical value.

1. Knowledge module division

Fundamentals of Environmental Science: It studies the essence of environmental issues, including environmental chemistry (the migration and transformation of pollutants in the environment), environmental ecology (the interaction between ecosystems and human activities), environmental geoscience (the connection between geology and environmental pollution), etc.

Environmental engineering technology: Focusing on engineering practices for pollution control, such as water pollution control engineering (sewage treatment plant design), air pollution control engineering (desulfurization and denitrification technology), solid waste treatment (waste incineration and resource utilization), etc.

Environmental management and policy: It involves environmental impact assessment (EIA), environmental planning, environmental economics (cost-benefit analysis of pollution control), environmental regulations (such as the Environmental Protection Law and the Law on the Prevention and Control of Atmospheric Pollution), etc.

All Chinese and other foreign students (non-Chinese citizens) who have a high school diploma or equivalent educational attainment, are at least 18 years old but no more than 25 years old, have good conduct, no criminal record, and are in good physical and mental health are eligible to apply for Jinan University.

1. [Application Form] "Application Form for Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, Overseas Chinese, Chinese and Other Foreign Students of Jinan University and Huaqiao University" Log in to the application system, complete the application and print it out (with your signature attached).

2. [Passport] The student's own passport (if currently in China, the most recent valid Chinese visa page and entry and exit record stamp must also be provided).

3. [Graduation Certificate] and [Transcript] (Note ①, ②)

Graduation certificates or academic qualifications of high school or above, transcripts of each academic year issued by the graduating high school, and transcripts of internationally recognized standardized tests (if available, provide such as SAT/ACT/A-Level/AP/IB, etc.).

4. [Language Proficiency Proof] HSK or IELTS, TOEFL score certificates, etc. (The scores are valid within two years).

5. [Personal Statement] Self-introduction, past study experience and study plan in China.

6. [Recommendation Letter] One letter, which can be recommended by our overseas admissions office, local overseas Chinese communities, well-known figures in the overseas Chinese community, or the high school where the student graduated.

7. [Physical Examination Report] If you are applying for a medical-related program at our school, you also need to provide a physical examination report within the last six months. The template for the physical examination report is attached as the "Physical Examination Form".

8. The date of issuance of the "Certificate of No Criminal Record" should be within six months before the registration date.

9. [Other Materials] According to the "Notice of the Ministry of Education on Regulating the Relevant Work of Accepting International Students in Our Higher Education Institutions" (Jiaowai Han [2020] No. 12),

② Proof of the applicant's acquisition of foreign nationality; ③ The applicant's entry and exit records for the past four years (up to April 30, 2025).

(2) For applicants who acquired foreign nationality at birth abroad, if one or both of their parents are Chinese citizens, they need to provide ① proof that the applicant acquired foreign nationality at birth; ② Proof of permanent residence of the applicant's parents (Chinese citizens) in a foreign country before birth; ③ The applicant's entry and exit records for the past four years (up to April 30, 2025).
