Professional Overview：

The Food Science and Engineering major is based on chemistry, biology and engineering. It mainly studies modern food processing methods, processes and equipment, covering aspects such as food nutrition and health, process design and social production, food processing and storage as well as food safety and hygiene. It serves as an important bridge connecting food science and industrial engineering.

Training Objectives：

Cultivate qualified builders and reliable successors of the socialist cause who are well-rounded in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor. Students are required to master the basic knowledge of natural science and the fundamental theories and practical skills of food science and engineering, possess the ability to conduct food research and development, management and solve complex engineering problems, have a good cultural background and scientific literacy, have the awareness of innovation and entrepreneurship and an international perspective, and be able to work in related fields such as food processing, circulation and sales. Engage in work related to food science research, supervision and management, product development, engineering design, production management, logistics and sales, etc.

Core courses：

It includes food chemistry, food nutrition, food safety, food technology, food analysis, food processing equipment and intelligent manufacturing, food factory design and environmental protection, etc.

All Chinese and other foreign students (non-Chinese citizens) who have a high school diploma or equivalent educational attainment, are at least 18 years old but no more than 25 years old, have good conduct, no criminal record, and are in good physical and mental health are eligible to apply for Jinan University.

2. [Passport] The student's own passport (if currently in China, the most recent valid Chinese visa page and entry and exit record stamp must also be provided).

3. [Graduation Certificate] and [Transcript] (Note ①, ②)

Graduation certificates or academic qualifications of high school or above, transcripts of each academic year issued by the graduating high school, and transcripts of internationally recognized standardized tests (if available, provide such as SAT/ACT/A-Level/AP/IB, etc.).

4. [Language Proficiency Proof] HSK or IELTS, TOEFL score certificates, etc. (The scores are valid within two years).

5. [Personal Statement] Self-introduction, past study experience and study plan in China.

6. [Recommendation Letter] One letter, which can be recommended by our overseas admissions office, local overseas Chinese communities, well-known figures in the overseas Chinese community, or the high school where the student graduated.

7. [Physical Examination Report] If you are applying for a medical-related program at our school, you also need to provide a physical examination report within the last six months. The template for the physical examination report is attached as the "Physical Examination Form".

8. The date of issuance of the "Certificate of No Criminal Record" should be within six months before the registration date.

9. [Other Materials] According to the "Notice of the Ministry of Education on Regulating the Relevant Work of Accepting International Students in Our Higher Education Institutions" (Jiaowai Han [2020] No. 12),

② Proof of the applicant's acquisition of foreign nationality; ③ The applicant's entry and exit records for the past four years (up to April 30, 2025).

(2) For applicants who acquired foreign nationality at birth abroad, if one or both of their parents are Chinese citizens, they need to provide ① proof that the applicant acquired foreign nationality at birth; ② Proof of permanent residence of the applicant's parents (Chinese citizens) in a foreign country before birth; ③ The applicant's entry and exit records for the past four years (up to April 30, 2025).
