The major of Ship engineering mainly studies the design, performance, structure and construction of various types of ships, and is committed to cultivating professional and technical talents in the field of ship engineering. The following is a detailed introduction:
Training objective:
Junior college stage: Cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talents with good professional ethics and craftsmanship spirit, who master the basic knowledge of ship hull reading and drawing, ship assembly, quality inspection and shipbuilding engineering management, possess the relevant capabilities of ship manufacturing and repair, and can engage in assembly, welding and other work on the ship construction assembly line, as well as in shipbuilding production design.
Undergraduate stage: This program aims to cultivate senior engineering and technical talents who master the basic theories and relevant professional knowledge of engineering science and technology in the professional field, possess the basic skills of modern ship and Marine engineering design, research, construction and management knowledge, and can engage in technical and management work in departments such as ship and Marine structure design, manufacturing and inspection.

At the undergraduate level, there are courses such as "Ship Fluid Mechanics", "Ship Structural Mechanics", "Principles of Ship Design", "Ship Resistance and Propulsion", "Hull Strength and Structural Design", "Ship and Ocean Engineering Regulations", "Finite Element Analysis of Ship and Ocean Engineering Structures", "Ship Performance Testing Technology", "Ship Maneuverability and Seakeeping", etc.
(1) Non-Chinese citizens who abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government, are physically and mentally healthy, and hold valid ordinary passports of foreign countries; (II) Educational qualifications and age requirements for applicants
Undergraduate students: High school graduation or equivalent is required, with an age range of 18 to 30 years old (as of September 1, 2025).
2. Master's degree candidates: Must hold a bachelor's degree and be no older than 45 years old (as of September 1, 2025).
3. Doctoral candidates: Must hold a master's degree and be no older than 50 years old (as of September 1, 2025).
4. Preparatory students and visiting students (one-year program) : Age should not exceed 50 years old (as of September 1, 2025). (III) Language Proficiency Requirements:
All undergraduate, master's and doctoral students in our university are mainly taught in Chinese. Applicants' Chinese proficiency must reach level 4 of the International Chinese Proficiency Standard (hereinafter referred to as HSK), and the validity period is within two years. Applicants whose previous academic stage was taught in Chinese can be exempted from submitting the HSK Level 4 certificate, but they must provide proof that Chinese was the medium of instruction.
2. Doctoral students can choose to be taught in English (except for the major of Ship and Ocean Engineering). Applicants for programs taught in English are required to provide an English proficiency certificate. Applicants whose official language is English are exempt from the English proficiency certificate. Other applicants are required to achieve a TOEFL score of 80 or above, an IELTS score of 6.0 or above, or provide a certificate of equivalent English proficiency.
For majors where Chinese is the medium of instruction, students' Chinese proficiency must reach the HSK Level 5 standard upon graduation. For majors where English is the teaching language, undergraduate students are required to have a Chinese proficiency level of HSK Level 4 upon graduation, while master's and doctoral students are required to have a Chinese proficiency level of HSK Level 3 upon graduation.
(4) Economic guarantee requirements
Applicants are required to submit the "Financial Guarantee Letter for International Students of Jimei University", providing a guarantee proof sufficient to cover the tuition fees, accommodation fees, and living expenses for studying in China. At the same time, submit the work certificate and a copy of the passport of the financial guarantor.
