I. The Essence and Core Logic of the Discipline
Environmental design is an interdisciplinary subject centered on "shaping spatial experience" and "coordinating ecosystems", integrating architecture, landscape architecture, ergonomics, aesthetics and theories of sustainable development. Its research objects cover the all-dimensional environment from indoor living Spaces (such as the storage design of small-sized apartments) to urban public Spaces (such as the renovation of the Bund Riverside Walkway in Shanghai), from natural scenic spots (such as the planning of the Jiuzhaigou ecological boardwalk) to virtual digital scenes (the design of metaverse exhibition halls). The essence is to solve the interaction relationship problem of "people - space - environment". Take into account functionality, aesthetic value and ecological sustainability.
