Optical engineering is an engineering discipline centered around the generation, transmission, regulation, detection and application of light. It studies how to design and manufacture optical systems and devices using optical principles, and solves technical problems in fields such as energy, information, healthcare, and communication. From microscopes revealing the microscopic world to laser cutting reshaping industrial production, from fiber-optic communication connecting the globe to AR/VR constructing virtual worlds, optical engineering is the core support for "the application and innovation of light" in modern technology.
