Course Overview: This major is a first-level discipline, with two secondary disciplines: Communication and Information System, and Signal and Information Processing. It covers numerous high-tech fields such as wireless communication, multimedia and image processing, electromagnetic fields and microwaves, satellite mobile video, etc., and is dedicated to solving the core issues of information transmission and processing in modern society.

Training Objectives: To cultivate scientific research and engineering professionals in the field of information and communication engineering and university teachers. Students are required to have a solid theoretical foundation in communication theory and systems, information transmission and processing technologies, etc., possess professional knowledge and skills in signal detection and estimation, signal analysis and processing, etc., and have the ability to conduct research in this discipline area.

Main Courses: Main disciplines include Communication Engineering, Electronic Technology, and Computer Science and Technology. Main courses include Circuit Analysis, Communication Electronic Circuits, Pulse Digital Circuits, Digital Signal Processing, Signals and Linear Systems, Microcomputer Principles and Applications, Electromagnetic Field Theory, Microwave Technology and Antennas, Communication System Principles, Information Theory and Coding, Program-controlled Switching Technology, Mobile Communication Technology, Computer Network Communication, Optical Fiber Communication Technology, etc.

Research Directions: The research areas of this major at Xi'an Jiaotong University cover broadband wireless communication, communication network theory and engineering, intelligent communication and networks, multi-antenna transmission theory, medical image coding and transmission, video image processing, etc. The research directions of Qingdao University of Technology include Integrated Circuit Design and IP Protection, Multimedia Technology, Communication Network and Implementation, Complex Networks, Electronic Systems and Electromagnetic Compatibility, etc.

Those who are pursuing a bachelor's degree must have a high school diploma and be under the age of 25. 

(2) Those who are pursuing a master's degree must have a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 35. 

(3) Those pursuing a doctoral degree must hold a master's degree and be under the age of 40. 

(4) Those pursuing non-degree education courses should be under the age of 45. 

3. Not a recipient of any other scholarships. 

4. Language proficiency requirements: IELTS >= 6.0, TOEFL > 80, MELAB >= 10

On the application system of our university, applicants must fill in information in Chinese or English and submit application materials online.

1. Valid Ordinary Passport.

If the applicant is in China, a valid residence permit is also required.

2. The highest degree certificate. Graduating students can provide a pre-graduation letter as a substitute, and have to bring the original certificate when they come to China.

4. "Physical Examination Record for Foreigners"(Attachment 3).

Applicants should strictly follow the items required in the "Physical Examination Records for Foreigners" and fill them out in Chinese or English. The “Physical Examination Record for Foreigners” missing pages or without a photo or a cross-page seal on it, or without a signature of physician or seal from hospital is invalid. Whereas the inspection results are valid in 6 months, applicants are requested to determine the time of their medical examination accordingly.

5. Valid non-criminal record certificate within 6 months. If the applicant is already in China, she/he can only provide performance letter or Non-objection certificate from current university.

6. Proof of Language Proficiency.

7. Study Plan for Bachelor or Research Plan for Master and PhD.

8. Two recommendation letters signed by (associate) professors (Undergraduate students are exempt).

9. Conditional acceptance letter (It’s not a mandatory but a preferred file, with which students will be admitted in priority).

10. Others preferred: academic achievements (important), certificates of sports or cultural activity.

11. Students under 18 years old should upload Letter of Authorization.(Attachment 4)
