Electrical engineering is a discipline centered around electrical energy and its related technologies. It mainly studies the generation, transmission, distribution, utilization, and control of electrical energy. Here is a detailed introduction:
Professional History: In 1878, the world's first electrical engineering program was established at Imperial College London. The earliest electrical engineering program in China can be traced back to 1908, when Nanyang University Hall, the predecessor of Jiaotong University, set up an electrical engineering specialty.
Training Objectives: To cultivate talents with basic theoretical knowledge in engineering and relevant professional knowledge centered on the production, transmission and utilization of electrical energy, who can effectively apply the knowledge they have learned to solve engineering problems and construct engineering systems, and possess good social ethics and comprehensive qualities.
Curriculum: General courses include calculus, linear algebra, electromagnetism, etc. Subject foundation courses include basic engineering graphics, fundamentals of circuits and electronics, electromagnetic fields, etc. Professional courses cover circuit theory, electrical machinery, power system analysis, power system relay protection, etc.
Main Directions: Including electrical theory and new technologies, electrical machines and appliances, power systems and their automation, power electronics and grid connection of new energy, etc. Electrical theory and new technologies mainly study electrical networks, biological electromagnetism, etc.; Electrical machines and appliances focus on mechanical-electrical power systems and their control, motor design, etc.; Power systems and automation focus on power system operation and analysis, high-voltage direct current transmission technology, etc.; Power electronics and grid connection of new energy mainly study power electronic converters, new energy power systems, etc.
Employment Directions: Graduates can work in the fields of power, energy, manufacturing, communication, etc., in positions such as power system design, operation and maintenance, intelligent grid management, automation control system design. They can also apply to relevant civil service positions such as the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Ministry of Transport, National Energy Administration, etc.
