Professional Overview

Hydraulic engineering focuses on water as its core research object, concentrating on the coordination between the natural movement laws of water (such as precipitation, runoff, evaporation, etc.) and the human society's demand for water (such as water supply, irrigation, power generation, shipping, etc.). Through engineering technical means, it addresses issues such as uneven spatial and temporal distribution of water resources, frequent water disasters, and water ecological protection. It is a comprehensive engineering discipline that takes into account both "benefiting from water" (developing water resources) and "preventing disasters" (preventing water disasters).

Training Objectives

The training aims to cultivate comprehensive engineering professionals who possess solid basic theories in hydrology, engineering mechanics, soil mechanics, and material mechanics, and master professional skills in hydraulic engineering planning, design, construction, management, and water resources protection. They can engage in engineering investigation, design, construction, research, management, and education in fields such as water conservancy, hydropower, flood control, water resources management, and ecological water conservancy. Students are required to not only understand theoretical analysis but also be able to solve technical problems in water resource development and disaster prevention and mitigation through practical engineering.

2. Requirements for the applicant's educational background and age: 

Those who are pursuing a bachelor's degree must have a high school diploma and be under the age of 25. 

(2) Those who are pursuing a master's degree must have a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 35. 

(3) Those pursuing a doctoral degree must hold a master's degree and be under the age of 40. 

(4) Those pursuing non-degree education courses should be under the age of 45. 

3. Not a recipient of any other scholarships. 

4. Language proficiency requirements: IELTS >= 6.0, TOEFL > 80, MELAB >= 10

On the application system of our university, applicants must fill in information in Chinese or English and submit application materials online.

1. Valid Ordinary Passport.

If the applicant is in China, a valid residence permit is also required.

2. The highest degree certificate. Graduating students can provide a pre-graduation letter as a substitute, and have to bring the original certificate when they come to China.

3. Transcripts.

4. "Physical Examination Record for Foreigners"(Attachment 3).

Applicants should strictly follow the items required in the "Physical Examination Records for Foreigners" and fill them out in Chinese or English. The “Physical Examination Record for Foreigners” missing pages or without a photo or a cross-page seal on it, or without a signature of physician or seal from hospital is invalid. Whereas the inspection results are valid in 6 months, applicants are requested to determine the time of their medical examination accordingly.

5. Valid non-criminal record certificate within 6 months. If the applicant is already in China, she/he can only provide performance letter or Non-objection certificate from current university.

6. Proof of Language Proficiency.

7. Study Plan for Bachelor or Research Plan for Master and PhD.

8. Two recommendation letters signed by (associate) professors (Undergraduate students are exempt).

9. Conditional acceptance letter (It’s not a mandatory but a preferred file, with which students will be admitted in priority).

10. Others preferred: academic achievements (important), certificates of sports or cultural activity.

11. Students under 18 years old should upload Letter of Authorization.(Attachment 4)

Note: Chinese or English translation copy is mandatory if original file is not in Chinese/English/Spanish.
