International Economics and Trade is an interdisciplinary field that focuses on the patterns of economic exchanges between countries, trade rules, and global economic interactions. It integrates economics, management, law (international commercial law), and foreign language skills. The core of this discipline is to study "how goods, services, capital, and technology flow across national borders" and "how these flows affect the economies of individual countries and the global order." The following is a detailed introduction from multiple dimensions:
I. Core Professional Positioning
The core of International Economics and Trade is "economic exchanges across national borders." It not only focuses on "goods trade" (such as China exporting home appliances to Europe) and "service trade" (such as cross-border tourism and software development outsourcing), but also involves international investment (such as foreign enterprises setting up factories in China), international finance (such as the impact of exchange rate fluctuations on trade), and global supply chains (such as the cross-border production chain of semiconductors). Its research aims are:
Explain the causes of international trade (such as why Saudi Arabia exports oil and Japan exports automobiles);
Analyze the impact of trade policies (such as how tariffs and trade agreements change the scale of imports and exports);
Solve practical problems in cross-border economic activities (such as how foreign trade enterprises deal with exchange rate risks and handle international settlements in compliance).
