Fudan University is recognized by WHO and the graduates of MBBS program are eligible to take the Medical Licensing Examinations held by the medical councils in different countries such as MCI, PMDC, USMLE, HPCSA, SCHS etc.

The program is completely taught in English and follows the principle of consolidating academic basis, stressing technical skills, enhancing interdiscipline and conducting clinical pratices.

Offered by Shanghai Medical College of Fudan University, this program is open to international students in pursuit of the science and practice of medicine. Those with exceptional performance will have oversea clinical internship opportunities. After completing the total required credits, students will conferred diploma by Fudan University and qualified students will receive the Bachelor of Medicine and the Bachelor Surgery (M.B.S.S.). Graduates will have the opportunity to enroll for Physician Qualification Exam according to the relative regulations of the concerned country.

Teaching ObjectivesThe course aims to educate students to study basic theory and elementary knowledge in medicine, gain basic clinical skills of some common diseases diagnosis processing, have the primary treatment ability to urgent, difficult and severe symptoms, and be qualified for careers in hospitals, the medical and health units, medical science research departments as well as other organizations related medicine.

Program DescriptionThe curriculum planning shall include the following three parts:

(1) Chinese culture and natural science courses. In order to facilitate their learning and life in China and contact with patients in their medical practice, the Chinese language shall be a compulsory course during the whole undergraduate medical program in English for international students in China.

(2) Basic medical sciences, behavioral science, humanities, social science and medical ethics, preventive medicine and clinical medicine. It is also required to pass the examinations of these courses respectively.

(3) Internship. The institutions shall meticulously organize the reasonable arrangement of the internship. The duration of the internship is one year (at least 48 weeks).

Internship InformationStudents can choose to do the internship/training in China, their home country or any other country.

If international students would like to do the internship in China, Fudan University would help student choose a hospital.

If students want to do the internship in other country, Fudan University need to do an qualification evaluation on the hospital which student choose.

And, students have to take the final examination on Theory Test and Clinical Evaluation in Fudan University.

Degree Awarded

On completing the requirements of the teaching program and passing the graduation examinations successfully, international medical undergraduates will be granted a graduation certificate and conferred a medical degree byFudanUniversity,if they meet the degree regulations of FudanUniversity. The English copy of the degree will state MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery).

Career After obtaining MBBS Degree, the graduates can apply to take the medical licensing examination in the medical council in order to get registered and practice medicine. According to the regulations in different countries, the students may need to do the degree accreditation first. A MBBS degree holder can find jobs in government as well as private hospitals, nursing homes and other health facilities. Except this, one can also start his own clinic or pursue study for master's degree.

1.High  school  graduate  or  above,  qualified  for  university entrance, physically and mentally healthyforeigners (applicants with color weakness and color blindness are not eligible to apply).2.According toNationality  Law  of  the  People’s  Republic  of Chinaand the regulations released by Ministry of Educationof the PRC[Circular No. 12 (2020)], if an applicant was born in a foreign country and one or both of the applicant’s parents hold Chinese citizenship (including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan), the  applicant  shall  have  Chinese  citizenship;  however,  if  the applicant’s  parents who hold  Chinese  citizenship  (including Hong  Kong,  Macao  and  Taiwan)  hadacquired permanent residenceof the foreign country before the applicant’s birth, the applicant shall not have Chinese citizenship.If anapplicant wants to apply as an international student, the applicant must have held 

4a valid foreign passport or certificate of nationality before May 1, 2021. In addition, the applicant must have lived outside Chinese mainland/Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan for at least twoyears during the period between May 1, 2021and April 30, 2025(subject to the entry and exit record, if the applicant has  stayed outside Chinese mainland/Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan for nine months or longer period during one year, it is equivalent to one year).Emigrants from Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan applying as international students must have held a valid foreign passport or certificate of nationality before May 1, 2021. In  addition,  the  applicant  must  have  lived  outside  Chinese mainland/Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan for at least two years during the period between May 1, 2021and April 30, 2025(subject to the entry and exit record, if the applicant has  stayed outside Chinese mainland/Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan for nine months or longer period during one year, it is equivalent to one year).★Please pay special attention to Article 8 of the ‘Application Procedure’and prepare the required documents in advance.★Ifbothof the applicant’sparents were foreign nationals at the time of the applicant’s birth, Article 2 above does not apply

1.Photocopy of valid passport identification page. Only ordinary passportis accepted and the expiry date should be later than September 30, 2025. 2. Applicants currently residing in China must providea copy of the page containing a valid visa or residence permit.3. Diploma of highest degree conferred or proof of impending graduation (for applicants in their final year of study) (Original or notarized copy, with notarized Chinese or English translation, if original not in Chinese or English).4. Transcripts of highest degree conferred (original or notarized copy, with notarized Chinese or English translation, if original not in Chinese or English).5. Original or notarized copy of following English language test result(only for applicants whose native language is not English), students from high school with major courses taught in English may be waivered of the English language test.

6. Two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English from whom  can  attest  to  the  quality  of the  applicant’sacademic performance and scholastic potential. The letters must include recommenders’ phone number and email address.If the letters cannot be uploaded by the applicant, the applicant can send the link in the system to the recommender for filling in the letter. 7. Applicants who are under 18 years old by September 1, 2025must submit a Guarantee Statement, which can be downloaded from the website（https://iso.fudan.edu.cn/16062/list.htm）；The guarantor should be an adult, living in Chinese mainlandwith a stable source of income.8. Applicants in category Application Qualification 2：（1）Applicants who were born in a foreign country and have acquired foreign citizenship at birth, should provide documents to prove that one or both of the applicant’s parents have acquired permanent residence of the country before the applicant’s birth.Applicants who used to hold Chinese travel documentsor passes shouldprovide documentation of cancellation/rescissionof their Chinese  citizenship.Applicants  who  have  emigrated  from Chinese mainland/Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan and have acquired foreign  citizenship  should also provide  documentation  of cancellation/rescission of theirChinese citizenship. 

7(2)If  the  applicant  has  ever  visited  or  lived  in  Chinese mainland/Hong Kong/Macao/Taiwan,  the  applicant  should submit  entry  and  exit  records  and  relevant  visa  or  residence permit from May 1, 2021(inclusive) upon application.9.
