Program Description

Objective of the program: The program is designed to educate students for leadership roles in intermediate-large scale software system development and software project management. Graduates should have a profound understanding of advanced and practical software development methods, techniques, and tools related to each phrase of software development cycles, be able to hatch up innovative solutions and implement leading-edge technologies. In addition, graduates would be equipped with comprehensive knowledge related to information technology and expertise in certain specialty, such as enterprise computing, embedded system, service engineering and science, GIS, business intelligent, mainframe technology, and so on. Graduates should be able to immediately engage in software development and software project management in domestic or international industry, government agencies, and academia or other institutions.
Study requirements： Course study requirements: Total credits should be no less than 30, including 18 credits in core courses，and more than 12 credits in selective courses.

Internship requirements: Students should complete an internship of 0.5-1 year to participate in software system development, including designing, implementing, testing software system and project management. A successful internship is counted as 5 credits.

Thesis Requirements: Students should complete the writing of research proposal before starting the internship. The Master degree thesis and research work should be done according to the standards of The Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the thesis defense should be passed finally. An approved and successful thesis defend is counted as 5 credits. Compulsory Courses: Modern Software Engineering; Software Project Management; Software Test; Design and Analysis of Object-Oriented System Based on UML; Chinese Degree to be awarded: The student who has fulfilled all the courses and thesis requirements will be awarded the Master's Degree of Software Engineering of Tongji University.

Entry Requirements

1. Language: 80 and above for TOEFL; or 6.0 and above for IELTS; or other certificates which can prove that English is your native language or the working language;
2. College educational background or equivalent, and majors in computer science, computer engineering, electronic engineering, etc. If the applicant's major is irrelevant to any of the major mentioned above, education background or working experience related to "IT" is expected.

6. Two recommendation letters
From professor,associate professor or equivalents.

7. Copy of article or papers published
Catalogue and abstract of published paper, and other documents that can prove academic ability, and special documents required by the target college.
