Program Description
1. Introduction
The course is concerned with exploring development practice from a global comparative perspective while looking at the specific development experience of China through a historical and analytical lens. Combining textbook theories and field practice into a coherent training whole, the course aims at developing the theoretical frameworks of students, broaden their analytical powers, and enhance their practical skills. All courses are taught in English by top Chinese and foreign scholars of development studies, and by high-level Chinese policymakers in the relevant fields. The course combines classroom lectures with field visits and internships in order to help students apply classroom knowledge in the real world environment.

Study duration: 1.5 years (3 semesters)

Credits: 32 in total which includes 18 for compulsory courses, 8 for optional courses and 6 for a dissertation.

Entry Requirements
1. Applicant should be less than 50 years old.
2. Applicant should gain Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
3. Foreign students with English as a second language must be able to verify their English proficiency (e.g. having a basic degree from an institution in an English-speaking country or a certificate documenting performance on an international test: in the case of TOEFL, a score above 637points(paper-based) /263 points(internet-based) is required, and for IETLS, a score above 7.0 is required. In addition, a minimum score of 5.0 in writing part of TOEFL is required and in the same case in IETLS, the minimum score is 7.0)

1. Photocopy of valid passport
With photo, passport number &expiration date and name included.
2. Passport-sized photo
A passport-sized photo taken recently of the applicant.
3. Bachelor's degree diploma
Graduation certificate should be in Chinese or English.If not, it should be translated into Chinese or English and be notarized.
4. Transcript of undergraduate school
5. Two recommendation letters(optional)
From professor,associate professor or equivalents.
6. Certificate of English proficiency test
IELTS or TOEFl will only be required if the applicant is not a native English speaker.
7. Personal Statement
Personal Statement with the applicant's signature, written in Chinese or in English. You can download a template or sample from here.
8. Letter of guardian’s guarantee For applicant under 18 years of age Letter of guarantee The guardian should write out his/her name, nationality, occupation and address (if an organization acts as the guardian, reference to the organization should be made clear).
9. Photocopies of any published academic papers, patents, or other academic achievements
