Papers for Foreign Students to Apply for Residence Permit

Aliens applying for residence permit must answer related questions and submit the following papers:
1、A official letter of the recipient university/college that specifies the duration of studies and the Notification of Admission. If you continue to study at the same university/college/school, Notification of Admission is not requested.
2、Fill completely and correctly in Visa and Residence Permit Application Form with black or blue pen or ball-point pen.
3、One recently taken two-inch half-length，bareheaded and full-faced photo for the application form.
4、The original and copy of valid passport, Chinese visa and entry seal. The type of your passport must be ordinary.
5、Valid Visa Application for Study in China (JW201 or JW202 form).
6、The original and copy of Health Certificate for International Traveler issued by Yunnan Administration for Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine(Tel:7161994). When applying for the residence permit longer than six months the first time, aliens at the age of 18 and upwards must provide their health certificates.
7、The original and copy of Registration Form of Temporary Residence from local police station，it is not requested if you lodge at hotel.
Note：The copy of documents should be copied with A4 paper.

Papers for Family Members of Foreign Students to Apply for L Visa

The foreign spouse or children at the age under 18 of an foreign student, or parents/guardian of an foreign student at the age under 18, can apply for 6 months or 1 year L visa with zero entry, once entry, twice entries or multiple entries. There is no limitation for applying times. But the validity of the visa cannot be over the validity of the foreign student’s visa or residence permit.

Foreigners applying for L visa must answer related questions and submit the following papers:
1、An official letter from the recipient organization which specified with the family relation and duration of visa application.
2、Fill completely and correctly in Visa and Residence Permit Application Form with black or blue pen or ball-point pen.
3、One recently taken two-inch half-length，bareheaded and full-faced photo for application form.
4、The original and copy of valid passport, valid Chinese visa and entry seal.
5、The original and copy of the foreign student’s passport and residence permit.
6、The original and copy of Registration Form of Temporary Residence from local police station，it is not requested if you lodge at hotel.
7、The foreign spouse must also provide the identification of marriage and the foreign children must provide the identification of family relation. The guardian must also provide the mandate of the foreign student’s parents. Identifications issued by any organizations abroad must be attested by the Chinese embassy or consular post in that country. Non-English identifications must be translated into Chinese by professional translation agency.
Note：The copy of documents should be copied with A4 paper.

Important Notice:
1、 In case of changes of the information specified in the alien’s residence permit such as name, purpose of residence, passport number and accompanying person, you must, within 10 days, apply for a new residence permit to the permit-issuing authority.
2、In case of changes of the information specified in the alien’s residence permit such as address, university/college of study and place of work/employment, you must, within 10 days, register the changes with the permit-issuing authority.
3、If you need to prolong your residence in Kunming, please apply for a new one before the expiration of your residence permit.
4、Please carry you with your passport for possible examination by police when you go out. If you lodge temporarily elsewhere than your own residence, you should, within 24 hours of your arrival (within 72 hours in rural areas), report and register accommodation to the local police station, it is not requested if you lodge at hotel.
5、It must be valid and true for your application materials and information filled in Visa and Residence Permit Application Form. If the materials and information were false or incorrect, it would affect your obtaining residence and entry-exit certificates. The police agency has right and responsibility for making investigation in accordance with the law on the materials and information you submit. During the investigation, applicants, relevant agencies and personals have the duty to cooperate with us positively.

Papers for Foreigners to Apply for F Visa

Foreigners applying for visa and the recipient organization must answer related questions and submit the following papers:
1、The official letter issued by the local recipient organization.
2、Fill completely and correctly in Visa and Residence Permit Application Form with black or blue pen or ball-point pen.
3、One recently taken two-inch half-length，bareheaded and full-faced photo for the application form.
4、The original and copy of valid passport, Chinese visa and entry seal.
5、The original and copy of Registration Form of Temporary Residence from local police station，it is not requested if you lodge at hotel.
6、The original and copy of the valid Duplicate of Business License or other qualified certificate of legal person for recipient organization.
7、Foreigners coming for short-term exchange or advanced studies in culture, medicine and so on should also submit the approval by relevant department in charge.

Important Notice:
1、In accordance the law and regulation of China, if you rent a house or lodge at home of a Chinese resident, you should, within 24 hours (72 hours in rural areas) of your arrival, report and register accommodation to the local police station，it is not requested if you lodge at hotel.
2、It must be valid and true for your application materials and information filled in Visa and Residence Permit Application Form. If the materials and information were false or incorrect, it would affect your obtaining residence and entry-exit certificates. The police agency has right and responsibility for making investigation in accordance with law on the materials you submit and circumstances involved.
