Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games will be held from July 28th to August 8th, With 'Chengdu Makes Dreams Come True' as the slogan, Chengdu will incorporate the philosophy of hosting a 'Sustainable, Smart, Spirited, and Sharing' event.
The 31st FISU World University Games, which kicked off in Chengdu, Sichuan province, on Friday and will continue till Aug 8, promises to be a spectacular affair. It will showcase the skills, stamina, speed and staying power of athletes, many of whom could be the stars of tomorrow.
Emblem symbolizing the essence of the games incorporated elements from Sichuan culture, such as the sun bird from the Jinsha archaeological site in Chengdu, Sichuan embroidery and the captivating face-changing performance from Sichuan Opera.
The countdown for the opening ceremony took an unconventional approach, starting not from "10", but from "12", symbolizing the 12 tail wings of the majestic sun bird.
As the flame tower was ignited, fireworks burst into the sky, illuminating the stadium, marking the grand finale of the spectacular gala.
Rongbao is the official mascot of the Chengdu FISU World University Games. The giant panda, sporting flame-shaped ears, eyes and tail, has been an instant hit with participants from around the world.
The torch is named "Rong Huo", which incorporates the gradient color blocks of vermilion, bright yellow, emerald green, and lake blue of the Chengdu 2021 FISU Games main visual design, symbolising the vibrant, energetic, and colorful life of Chengdu, as well as the youth of university students.
