On October 9, the opening ceremony of the 2024 "Chinese Bridge" Indonesian educators' Visit to China, sponsored by the Sino-Foreign Language Exchange and Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Education and undertaken by Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, was successfully held. Mr. Li Zhisheng, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, the head of the School of International Education, members of the project team, some representatives of Indonesian students and educators from the Indonesian East Java Chinese Language Education Coordination Organization, the North Chinese Language Education Promotion Association, Surabaya Yongchun Chinese Language Center, Batam Tsirong School jointly participated in the opening ceremony.
At the opening ceremony, Li Zhisheng, on behalf of the university, extended a warm welcome to the Indonesian educators visiting China and introduced the historical evolution, school-running characteristics, discipline construction and the development of international Chinese education of SWUFE. Li Zhisheng said that the school adheres to the concept of "openness, inclusiveness, seeking truth and innovation", and hopes to build a bridge of "language exchange, cultural mutual learning and soul communication" through the "Chinese Bridge", a bridge of language and culture to communicate with the world, to help deepen the educational exchanges and cooperation between China and Indonesia, and to show overseas a more real, three-dimensional and comprehensive China.
Mr. Soh Sian Gwan, Chairman of the Indonesian East Java Chinese Language Education Co-ordinator and Director of the Yongchun Chinese Language Center, delivered a speech on behalf of the visiting delegation and expressed his gratitude to the Language Integration Center and Southwestern University of Finance and Economics for providing educational exchange opportunities. He hopes to take this visit as an opportunity to further promote in-depth cooperation between Indonesian and Chinese universities in the fields of teacher-student exchange, student training and scientific research, so as to provide broader opportunities for all Indonesian students who are willing to study in China.
Subsequently, Wang Xin, president of the School of International Education, signed memorandums of understanding with five schools and educational institutions in Indonesia on behalf of the school, and awarded the plaque of "Overseas Quality Student Source Base" to the five institutions.
Since 2022, the school has successfully held various forms of learning and exchange activities such as the "Chinese Bridge" China-Indonesia Cross-Cultural exchange Talents Special Group and the "Chinese Bridge" Three-country cultural Summer camp for Indonesian high school students, providing a total of more than 700 Indonesian students with colorful learning and cultural experiences. The "Chinese Bridge" Indonesian educators will visit China for five days in Chengdu, and will carry out in-depth educational observation and cultural visits at local high schools and cultural landmarks in Chengdu.
