If you plan to study MBBS in China, one of the first questions you should ask is whether your chosen university appears on the official Ministry of Education (MOE) list. This guide provides the complete 2026 approved list and a data-driven outlook for 2027.
The Ministry of Education publishes an annual list of universities authorised to recruit international students for English-taught MBBS programmes. Only these universities may issue English-language “MBBS” degree certificates. “Bilingual teaching” models are strictly prohibited.
Graduates from universities outside the official MOE list may face difficulties in degree recognition, medical licensing and qualification verification, depending on the regulations of their home country.

The following outlook reflects current policy announcements. Official requirements remain subject to MOE and university updates.
CSCA Expected to Become Universal
Based on current policy direction, CSCA (Chinese Scholastic Competence Assessment) is expected to become a mandatory admission requirement across all 43 MOE-approved MBBS universities starting from the 2027–2028 admission cycle. Subject requirements vary: some universities require Mathematics + Chemistry; others require Mathematics + Physics + Chemistry.
MOE List May Be Further Adjusted – The removal of 3 universities in 2026 signals continued quality control.
Competition Will Intensify – Applications are rising while quotas remain stable. Start preparation 8–12 months in advance.
