I. Professional Overview
Design studies are an important discipline in undergraduate and postgraduate education at ordinary universities in China, belonging to the category of Art Studies (subject code 1305). The usual duration of study is 4 years (for undergraduate programs), and a Bachelor of Arts degree is awarded. The postgraduate stage is divided into master's and doctoral levels, with more specialized research directions.
This major focuses on "design" as its core, studying the principles, methods, history, and practical applications of design. It emphasizes the concept of "people-oriented", and pays attention to integrating aesthetic value, functional requirements, technical feasibility, and social culture. It aims to cultivate professional talents with innovative design capabilities, interdisciplinary thinking, and practical skills.
II. Training Objectives
Undergraduate level: Cultivate students who master the basic theories, knowledge, and skills of design studies, possess strong innovative consciousness and practical abilities, and can engage in design creation, research, teaching, or management in various design fields.
Postgraduate level: Focus on cultivating academic research capabilities or advanced design practical abilities, concentrating on specific specialized fields (such as design theory, sustainable design, interaction design, etc.), and be capable of undertaking complex design projects or academic research work.
1. Physical and mental health (free from infectious diseases and without any physical or mental disorders that affect normal learning).
2. By September 1, 2025, the applicants for the master's program should be no older than 30 years of age.
3. Educational Requirements: As of September 1, 2025, applicants for the master's program must have a bachelor's degree.
4. Learning ability: Applicants should possess good learning ability and academic performance. The required score for the previous stage of application for applicants is 75%, and for those applying for the Chinese Government Scholarship, it is 80%. Applicants can provide other proof of their learning ability or academic performance such as GRE, GMAT, etc.
5. Language Requirements
The applicant should possess the required language proficiency in both Chinese and English as per the admission criteria.

3. Scanned copies of the semester/academic year transcripts for each period of the undergraduate study.
4. Recommendation letters provided by 4 experts or above at the associate professor level.
5. The applicant's study plan for pursuing a master's degree.
6. Chinese (HSK) / English (IELTS or TOEFL or Duolingo or PTE) language proficiency certificate; 7. No criminal record certificate (valid within 6 months);
