The National Seminar on Education of Engineering Graduates in CUP
2014/03/29Recently, the 25th national seminar on education of engineering graduates was held in our school. With China University of Petroleum as the host, Xian Jiaotong University the assistant, the seminar aimed at the reform of engineering graduates’ cultivation system, the education of full-time graduate students,the globalization of graduate education, the establishment of security system to guarantee the cultivation quality of engineering graduates and the training of innovative talents. Over 160 representatives from 70 institutions for graduate cultivation all around our country attended the seminar. 49 institutions of them just have Graduate School. Moreover, 93 theses were received at this seminar.
At the seminar, reports were made respectively by Graduate School from Tsinghua University, Tianjin University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Zhe Jiang University, Southwest Jiaotong University and China University of Petroleum (East China). Professor Gao Hong, vice president from Gradate School of Tsinghua University made a report called “Graduate Education and National Strategy_ Implications of American Graduate Education Developments”. Professor Bai Haili, executive vice president from Graduate School of Tianjin University launched a report titled “to create a Harmonious Environment, foster innovative way of thinking and achieve sustainable developments.” Then Professor Li Xiubing, vice president from Graduate School of Xian Jiaotong University gave a report of “Insights into the Improvement of Graduate Cultivation Quality.” What followed was a report from Professor Yan Jianhua, executive vice president from Zhe Jiang University called “Reform and Practical Explorations of Graduate Training System in Zhe Jiang University.” And then Professor Feng Xiaoyun, headmaster assistant and executive vice president from Southwest Jiaotong University made a report named “Reform Experimen-tation on Training of Talents with Fulltime Master’s Degree of Engineering.” Finally, Professor Lin Chengyan, executive vice president from Graduate School of China University of Petroleum (Huadong) launched a report called “Practice and Exploration of Engineering Graduate Cultivation with the Integration of Production, Teaching and Research.”
Following the reports came group discussion. Four groups were divided to talk mainly about four problems. The representatives voiced their schools’ opinions about relative problems and measures taken one after another. As a result, agreements were reached unanimously in many fields.
