1. What programs do you offer?

We offer the following programs:

Chinese-Language learner program (one semester or above): Chinese Language.

Postgraduate program (three years): Tourism Management, English, Japanese, Russian, Arabic, German.

Undergraduate program (four years): Chinese (including Chinese Literature), Journalism, English, Japanese, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Korean, Portuguese, Tourism Management, Law, Marketing, International Trade, International Politics, Finance.

Refresher program (one semester or above): Chinese, Chinese Literature, Journalism, English, Japanese, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Arabic, Korean, Tourism Management, Law, Marketing, International Politics.

 

2. Is there an application deadline?

Yes.

For degree programs (except Chinese Language Undergraduate Program): May 31st;

For Chinese Language Undergraduate Program: June 30th;

For refresher programs (including Chinese Language Learner Program): June 30th (autumn semester) and Dec 31st (spring semester).

 

3. What are the qualifications for application?

For Chinese Language Learner Program: 18-60 years old, in good health condition and at least graduated from high school.

For Chinese Language Undergraduate Program: 18-50 years old, in good health condition and at least graduated from high school.

For non-Chinese undergraduate programs: 18-50 years old, in good health condition, at least graduated from high school and holding HSK level 6 certificate.

For postgraduate programs: 18-50 years old, in good health condition, at least holding undergraduate diploma and HSK level 7 certificate.

For non-Chinese refresher programs: 18-50 years old, in good health condition, at least graduated from high school and holding HSK level 3 certificate.

 

4. How can I apply for the programs?

Please submit the following materials to BISU’s International Students Office in person or through e-mail/fax/mail:

a) a photocopy of your passport and visa page (if there is one);

b) a photocopy of your diploma;

c) 2 passport-sized pictures;

d) application form (which you can download from BISU’s website);

e) HSK certificate (for non-Chinese programs);

f) application fee: RMB 800yuan (in cash or by bank transfer)

 

5. Do I need to take a Chinese test to get accepted?

For Chinese Language Learner Program and Chinese Undergraduate Program, you DO NOT need to take any Chinese tests to get accepted.

For other programs, you NEED to reach a certain proficiency level of Chinese language which means you need to pass the HSK test of a required level.

 

6. What is HSK?

It is a nationwide standard Chinese test for students with non-Chinese as their mother languages, organized by Hanban (for more information, please visit their homepage: http://www.hanban.org/ and choose your language at the top). It is held several times each year within and out of China.

 

7. Can I take HSK test at BISU?

Yes. BISU officially holds HSK test several times each year. You can both apply and take the HSK test at BISU. To help students pass the exams, the School of International Cultural Exchange offers a preparatory course regularly prior to each time of test

 

8. Can I apply for degree programs for the spring semester?

No. Degree programs ONLY start in September (fall semester) and we only accept applications made between the middle of March and the deadline.

 

9. Can I apply for any scholarships for study at BISU?

Yes. We offer Beijing Municipal Government Scholarship which exempts the tuition fee for applicant’s studying at BISU. Degree students have a priority to successfully get the bursary and we also grant it to well-performed language students. Another bursary is funded by the Chinese Government, which can be applied through embassy or in person.

 

10. Is there a foreign student dormitory on campus?

Yes. We offer 4 types on-campus student apartments for foreign students:

* All the apartments are double rooms, so if you want a single room, the price will be doubled.

 

11. Can I reserve a room beforehand?

Yes. Please inform us which room type you want to reserve as early as possible. Late reservations are not usually guaranteed.

 

12. Do you arrange pick-ups at the airport?

If the airport collection service is expected, the flight details should be provided to the International Students Office at least in one-week advance. The pick-up service charges RMB 200 yuan for one student.

 

13. Can I transfer the application fee by bank since I am not in China at the moment?

Yes. But please transfer the fee ONLY in RMB.

14. How can I apply for a visa to enter China?

We will check your supporting documents and provide the necessary visa application documents for you. After you have received the documents, please go to the nearest Chinese embassy in your country to apply for an X visa (student visa) to enter China.

Please note that we can extend the visa for you only AFTER your registration at BISU, but not a successful application.

According to the regulations, we are not able to accept students holding Z visas (working visa) or W visas (diploma visa) to study at BISU.

 

15. Can I apply if I am under 18 years old?

Usually No, except you have a notary document certified by formal Chinese notary offices.
