Russian Students' Summer Camp Delegation Visited

From July 30 to August 4, 200 students of the Russian high school students' summer camp delegation visited Shandong University. They joined in the Chinese traditional culture lectures on central campus and held some summer camp activities and completion ceremonies on the Weihai campus.
Yu Jihai, Deputy Director of the Division of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Education, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.
 
In his speech Yu showed his gratitude towards the staff who devoted their efforts to the summer camp.
He said that the friendly relationship between China and Russia will continue on; flowers of friendship between China and Russia will bloom more ardently and bear fruits in the future.
 
On the central campus of SDU, the delegates participated in the Chinese traditional culture lecture. Before the lecture, Prof, Jia Lei, Assistant to the President of SDU, introduced SDU and the situation of exchanges with Russian universities, and told a little story of student of SDU helping a Russian exchange student overcoming a disease.
 
He felt fine that more of Russia's middle school students were coming to SDU for further study.
 
The leader of Russian delegation in his speech hoped that the campers in China could grasp this opportunity to understand China more deeply and communicate more with Chinese youth.


 On the Weihai campus of SDU, Prof. Chen Guanjun, Vice President of SDU at Weihai, said in his opening greetings that the Sino-Russian friendly summer camp is an important confirmation of Sino-Russian friendship.

 
He was very much looking forward to the trip to Weihai leaving a good and unique impression with the students.
 
The leader of the Russian delegation said she believed that the summer camp in China will let the young people of the two countries know and contact each other, gain more understanding of the thousands of years of culture of both countries, consolidate the long friendship between the peoples of the two countries, and let the precious friendship go on from generation to generation.
 
In the completion ceremony, Prof. Liu Hai, Vice President of SDU at Weihai, said in his speech that the camp is a journey of friendship. Sino-Russian friendship summer camp acted as an important content of the cultural mechanism; it is the presentation and continuation of the traditional friendship between China and Russia.
 
The leader of the Russian delegation said that the delegation felt in person the development and changes of Chinese society, economics and technology through the summer camp activities, and had a taste of the beautiful coastal scenery in Weihai; they felt the enthusiasm, responsibility, caring, harmony, sincerity and kindness of the staff. He said this was a unique and wonderful trip in China.
 
 
After the completion ceremony, students from both sides performed on stage, offering us a fascinating variety show.
 
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang attends the 12th Prime Ministers' Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States and proposed that in the next 5 years China will hold summer camps for 2,000 primary and middle school students from the member states.
 
Last August, 200 primary and middle school students from Tajikistan were invited as the first batch of students to China to participate in the summer camp activities. This year, China invited 200 Russian students to China to participate in the summer camps held in Beijing and Shandong Province.
