Shanghai University of Medicine & Health Sciences (“SUMHS”), born in the new era of "healthy China" and being a municipal application-oriented technology-based undergraduate medical college, is situated in Shanghai International Medical Zone (SIMZ), Zhangjiang Science City in Pudong New Area, having three thriving campuses: Beiyuan, Nanyuan and Xinnanyuan. Currently with its more than 11000 full-time students, SUMHS encompasses 9 schools and 4 teaching departments, offering 16 undergraduate and 13 associate degree courses, i.e. clinical medicine, medical imaging technology, rehabilitation therapy, rehabilitation physical therapy, stomatology technology, medical inspection technology, health inspection and quarantine, food hygiene and nutrition, nursing science, health service and management, pharmacy, biomedical engineering, clinical engineering technology, data science and big data technology, medical product management, and public administration. Among them, clinical engineering technology, medical product management and other disciplines are the first of its kind in China, and such disciplines as health service and management, medical imaging technology, health inspection and quarantine and stomatology technology have filled the gap in Shanghai.
The university has five affiliated hospitals and a number of teaching hospitals. It has carried out international cooperation and exchanges with dozens of well-known universities in the United States, Japan, France, Britain, Australia and Germany, and has established a long-term and stable cooperation mechanism for personnel training.
With its 70-decades’ school-running history, and adhering to its school-running tradition of “the messenger of health promotion, the cradle of angels in white" and "the cradle of medical device engineers", the school closely meets the needs of the times, serves the needs of economic and social development, and has cultivated a large number of urgently-needed and innovative high-caliber talents for the development of the socialist health cause with Chinese characteristics in the new era.
